New year, new me…is a resolution that unfortunately doesn’t always work; however nowadays, with advancements in technology, it might be easier to stick to your new year’s resolution…if your goal, like most of us, is to lose or gain weight, or simply lead a healthier lifestyle, then we’ve got a gadget that will help you stay healthy all the while enjoying foods you love. And by foods you love we mean fast foods of course! But how could those ever be considered “healthy”? Well, thanks to air fryers, you can now make fried food much healthier! In recent years, this kind of appliance has become increasingly popular. By using it, people are able to fry foods at home without making a big mess and they consume much less fat. But like most appliances it has its downsides as well, below we will be listing the pros and cons of air frying and later we’ll show you some of the options you can find on our platform or through our app dubizzle Lebanon if you’re keen on purchasing an air fryer.
Starting with the pros:
As mentioned in the introduction, air fryers can turn fast food into a healthier meal, all you need is just a little bit of oil and you’re good to go. In fact, air fryers use 70 to 80% less cooking oil which means you’re already cutting a large portion of fat from your meal.
In addition, air fryers cook the food much quicker than an oven or a stovetop, that way you don’t have to wait long for your meal to be ready. Another advantage is that air fryers will not fill your house with the smell of frying. Plus, air fryers are usually small and won’t take up a lot of space on your countertop. An air fryer is very easy to use and is much safer than regular pan frying which can cause oil to pop and splash everywhere potentially leading to an accidental burn. One really good thing about air fryers is that they make food very crispy compared to an oven or a stove so fast food lovers will be delighted, especially when cooking chicken wings or french fries. If you have leftovers, you can reheat them in an air fryer instead of a microwave for example, without having to deal with sogginess so your food will be almost as fresh as before. Moreover, you can also use an air fryer for meat, seafood, vegetables and more. Finally, at the end of the process you’re not left with much of a mess, you only have to clean up your appliance when it cools down and that’s it!
Onto the cons:
Unfortunately, if you have an air fryer you will have to deal with some disadvantages but most of them can be avoided. If you’re making your fast food from scratch per se like nuggets, the wet batter or breadcrumbs will probably blow away due to the high airflow of the air fryer’s fan, so it’s probably better to get store bought food or prepare it earlier and leave it in the freezer. Compared to regular fried food, the taste is not as good especially when it becomes cold but that’s only because you’re using a lot less oil so you need to be willing to make this small sacrifice for the sake of your health (this doesn’t mean you can’t season your food with spices which will automatically make it taste better). As air fryers work quite fast, if you’re not careful you might burn the food and have to deal with the remains so keep your eye on the timer and temperature. If you’re part of a big family, then air fryers are not the best option for you, they cannot cook large quantities all at once therefore not being suitable for groups of more than 5 people. Some air fryers tend to be a bit noisy but they’re not louder than a washing machine so it’s fairly tolerable. Furthermore, this appliance isn’t the healthiest option either, the name says it all: it’s a fryer, no matter if you’re using hot air or hot oil, you’re still eating fried food which means you’re consuming less nutrients than those in grilled or boiled foods; but everyone deserves to enjoy a cheat meal every once in a while! Lastly, certain foods cannot be cooked in air fryers but you can still rely on them for preparations such as rice, shrimp, vegetable chips, even some desserts and the list of recipes goes on.
